Desert World 4

Desert World 4. The scavengers stumble upon a relic from the old world.

When I started researching this Desert World project I was drawn to all of the crazy things that have been lost at the bottom of the ocean over the years and what sorts of lost relics would be unearthed if the oceans dried up.

It turns out that during the Cold War the United States and Russia both lost nuclear submarines and aren’t sure what happened to them. The thought of scavengers finding one years later seemed like an interesting idea for a story!

The thinking behind the hermit crabs, is that the radiation from the nuclear submarine has allowed them to survive. They've found homes in the skulls of the crew of the submarine and the skulls of our protagonists look like prime real estate!
